On february 29th 2016,
Vanessa NYANGONO, a student at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at ENSPY, defended her end of course dissertation in front of a jury. Her work has focused on "the architecture of electrical installations in district hospitals: impact on quality of electric power". the research work is to inspect the various means used for electrical protection in our district hospitals, to increase their limits by mentioning electrical risks and propose solutions for improvement. In order to achieve this, Vanessa carried out the energy audits in three differents district hospitals of Cameroon |

Make the inventory of electrical equipment of the site she has visited in the district hospitals
- Achieve the non-existent electrical diagrams;
- Make some interviews with hospital staff and technicians responsible for electrical installations of the site;
- Take note about operation profiles of electrical equipment in each service;
- Input data on the quality of electric power through the network analyzer the PQ-Box 100.
The use of data collected in field allowed:
- The identification of the energy needs of hospitals;
- The analysis of data of the three district hospitals;
- The study of solutions to improve the quality of electric power and;
- The proposal of specific solutions and a global solution.
This analysis shows that the energy delivered by the supplier is not very good, the most recurrent disturbances are voltage sags, flicker and voltage fluctuations.To make a wise choice of solutions to, she made a technical and economic study of solutions to improve the quality of electric power. The proposed architecture is then to install a voltage stabilizer at the entrance of the electrical installation of each hospital, to use uninterruptible power supplies and generators to address business continuity issues, use active filters for harmonic and arresters to limit overvoltage.
