Training on Power quality, electrical safety and energy efficiency in the fields of industry and building

Contexte

The quality of electrical energy is a key parameter to the foundation of any economic success. It has become essential to business productivity. Users are forced to invest and take decisions on the design of the installation and on the number of further required equipment to achieve the desired level of quality. Unfortunately, they lack certain information: they know neither the scale nor the gravity of quality problems that may appear from any point in the network. As published statistics are scarce, consumers have great difficulties of quantifying the costs of power failure and justifying the cost of preventive measures.

In this situation, an analysis of electrical disturbances is a prerequisite to finding solutions because it helps to identify and understand the origin of disturbances, to assess their impact on equipment, to find and select the most appropriate technico-economical solution. The electrical safety is not insignificant. A faulty electrical system has an impact on reliability, represents an importantrisk of electrocution and causes many fire starts. The supply and exploitation of electrical safety is a factor whose financial impact is not measurable, yet it is important to be considered in any decision making.
To understand, measureandimplementevaluationsystems ofthe power qualityandelectricalprotection, companies must have people within who are well equipped theoretically and practically on the fundamental issues of power quality and electrical safety.

To meet this challenge, CURES is organizing a training seminar on "Power quality and electrical safety in the fields of industry and building."

This seminar is based on the experience of 03 trainings seminar co-financed by Francophone Network of Excellence in the Engineering Sciences (RESCIF) and the Commission for Research Partnerships with Developing Countries (KPFE) and organized in 2014 and 2015.  7 differents nationalities have been represented at those training seminars.

This proposed seminar will benefit from material and experience of the trainers of 2014 and 2015.It will involve teachers and scientists from universities in several countries of the South and the North in order to share knowledge and encourage collaborations in research related to the topic.
